The Community Of Fish

Cori is arranging and making sense of the Community of fish

by outlining with dark blue tiles.

When you get a closer look, you'll see that the tiles she chose

have a glimmer to them that makes them special.

 

Next she will fill in with a water color.

Looking from left to right on this whole panel:

These fisher folk in Cori's boat will be so surprised to catch such a variety water life!

Check for starfish, sea horse, shark, manatee, jelly fish,

shells, bottom feeders, and a whole array of others.

Certainly not unlike the community in which we live.

 

I Peter: We’re all a part of the body of Christ, and each part matters.

There are no insignificant people in the family of God.

Make no mistake.

Each step on this panel has been with much discussion of

color, placement and keeping it "readable".

Cori keeps going on it and her panel will shine.

Ducks, Ducks, Amazing Ducks!

Ann has been spending extra hours in the studio to bring her mallard to completion.

Notice how wonderful the reflection of the mallard is in the water

- and how the water seems to splash up at the point of his entrance.

And then there's the leaf bowing into the water

making concentric water circles to widen from the point.

Ann is truly an artist and we're lucky to have her.

Helen and Sarah are working together on this panel originally designed by Ann.

there are reflections in this one too - including more concentric water circles

rippling out from the bill of the duck.

 

We had to combine two portions of this panel because

we switched this scene with the Community of Fish...

which produced a number of problems in placement

because of the exit hole for the water from the roof of the church.

We had to move Malcolm Mallard tending the chicks to get him out of the hole.

One duck had to be eliminated.

 

But not Randy's duck.

Randy didn't get a chance to finish his duck so Sarah did her best to

complete it the way she thought he wanted it.

Turned out pretty cute.

Charlotte Elizabeth Egret is done!

 

In the above photo there was just a little left to do on the bottom.

So Betsy went to work on that and matched it to the base of the panel next to it.

 Close-by will be the following panel:

You can see a beaver dam that crosses from side to side,

some bumble bees, a dragon fly, water lilies and pads

and a little bit of flora on each side.

You will not see the toes of the photographer

or the remote control of our studio radio....

....just sayin'.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Look Who Stopped In Today!

There we were. Working away in the Mosaic Studio.

When in the door came Pastor Ingrid!

 

So, we sat her right down, gave her a pattern, a pot of glue

and directed her to the tile shelves to choose her tiles.

What fun we had with her in the studio

and look what she was able to do!

A little closer look:

And Sarah brought her dog Gladys.

She behaves well in the studio....

and so does Gladys.  Hahahaha.

A Short Look At Magnificent Art

Ann has been working on her mallard.

He is magnificent and I can't wait for people to see him in the Rain Garden

 

In the photo below, Helen's mallard may "swim" to a lower position on this panel.

Notice the water ripples and the reflections of the duck. Looks good, Helen.

 

Also on this panel, Sarah is rippling the water around the water lilies that are growing so beautifully and another front facing duck (who may have to "swim" to another spot.

 

Betsy is just about to complete her panel.

Those little egret babies are so joyful with their little head feathers sticking up.

Refreshing looking water and really pretty water lilies grace this end of the panel.

This one goes between the egret and the state flower.

I'm trying to switch the positions of two of the panels and it's making them

a little jumbled right now so that's why there aren't more photos.

Don't ask me about the switch. My tummy hurts until it's figured out for sure.

 

BUT, it was a pretty good week in the Mosaic Studio.

 

...and from our devoted regulars....

Helen has added more of her mallard duck

who is tending the three babies for the family.

Also, there is a dragon fly hovering by the cat tails. She used glass for it.

Notice the beginnings of the reflection of the duck.

She also is adding a water lily to the scene. Lots of thoughtful work here.

Oh. Em. Gee! Ann's mallard is stunning.

She's got the bill open and we can almost hear him calling out.

There's more to come on this pane. Just wait.

Sarah is "growing" lilies and lily pads.

She used the curve from the bottom side of a green plate

to show certain lines in the lily pads.

The lilies are so delicate.

Cori has brought the "cuteness" out in this little creature.

Nice work, Cori. Everyone will love this one. 

Oh, and just so you know we can't stop thinking about our project -
Ann N. decided to change

some of the background of her panel that was pictured in a previous post.

That meant she had to "pop" some of the tiles to replace them with the new ones.

Of course only Ann would have noticed - but that's the way we are.

This is gorgeous.

Miss Cori made an incredible shark.

So all day we were "Dah dum! Dah dum! Dah dumming"

and making like a shark attack.

That was laughter you heard coming out of the studio.

I never got Ann's finished black bird panel posted.

So, here it is. I love it.

It makes you want to pick the flowers for a bouquet.

Look Who Came To The Mosaic Studio!

Yup - my relatives came in again today.

Below is Frankie, Madison, Izi, Emily and Cepeda.

They all wanted to see the Sky Room where some of us Old Timers met up

with Pastor Wayne Wickoren as Luther Leaguers lo those many years ago.

AND Rob and I had our wedding reception in the then elegant Sky Room.

Lots of memories.

The moms also came and all of them made something for the Community of Fish.

Below is Madison, Amy, DeeAnn, Cepeda, Tina and Emily.

This is what they accomplished. Pretty incredible work by my family if I do say so myself.

 

Wait! What? Is that Pastor Jay? And Cantor David?

YES! The two of them came in and made a fish for the C of F panel.

Below you see their self appointed "mentors" Cepeda and Izi.

Hmmmm. Guess the boys didn't need much help.

See? Pastor Jay tapped into his creative side and made a pretty cute Nemo.

And David came up with a little fish with his head turned back.

Who knew?!

He's so good at it - maybe he will change his life's work to mosaic..... nahhhhhhh.

I think we have a mosaic convert in Randy.

He came in once again with a picture of a mama manatee with her baby.

"Do you think this would work for the mosaic?" said he.

"Of course. Go for it!" said I.

Here's a close-up. Pretty sweet. 

Randy has been working on keeping his tiles directional

and using some shading - like on the back flippers.

 It was a good day in the Mosaic Studio.
